Nino Galoppo, is an elite Master Sculptor of Capodimonte, one of
the very best in Italy and now here in the United States.
Nino has been dedicated to creating stunning flowers of porcelain for 35
years. At age 13, Galoppo began working in a porcelain factory. His
subsequent work experience specialized in schooling and apprenticeship
ultimately earned him the title of Master. Today he carries on the
tradition of using skills and techniques that have been handed down
since the Capodimonte art form was developed, more than 250 years ago.
The intricate detail and delicacy of Nino’s floral sculptures
are a combined result of his skillful hands, and using the world’s
finest porcelain clay, Limoges clay, which he imports from France. The
highest quality Limoges porcelain clay, in the hands of Galoppo, creates
the precise life like detail that gives birth to his flowers in
porcelain.
To this day, Nino uses only wooden picks, a fine mesh screen, a
knife, Limoges porcelain clay and skillful hands to create his unique
Capodimonte collection.
During the past 19 years he has sculpted his art at Busch
Gardens and now with his own business. Visiting 8-10 months each year,
he brought his art to America, hand crafting intricate floral
arrangements and bringing porcelain flowers to bloom, petal by petal,
for appreciation by everyone who has come to see him.
Recently, he has decide to venture out on his own, working with
Master Painters Salvatore Piscitelli (lives in Italy) and Eliza Damato,
who bring Nino’s works of art of life, with very unique painting
styles. Nino lives in Williamsburg, Va along with his wife and 2
children.
